Mavericky Sentence Structure

palin-whoosh

The Great Wahl crowd tends to lean to the left or, at the very least, can’t stand Sarah Palin. I know everyone enjoys a good political bashing — and today, I’ve got a really good one.

Slate recently ran a “write like Sarah Palin” competition in honor of her book, Going Rogue.

They just posted twelve of the best reader submissions and most of them are brilliant. I haven’t read the book, and never plan to, but I absolutely imagine this is what the book is like. I’ve posted a few of my favorite lines below. You can check out the entire dirty dozen here.

    - “The campaign path once led me into the homey kitchen of June Asbel, where the aroma of toasted almonds and nutmeg mixed with a sense of American perseverance and optimism.”

    - “It was only then, after I had removed the saddle from the moose, that I noticed the sweet sound of the warblers singing while perched on the fence post reminding me that unlike New York, Wasilla would always have my heart which not only pumps red, but also white and blue.”

    - “The snow machine pummeled through the white-dusted plain like a jubilant beaver; snow spewing out from both sides, building its dam of snow like a beaver builds one of wood as Todd rode gallantly upon it.”

And my personal favorite:

    - “Reaching the peak of Igikpak, that majestic mount, feeling the smooth Alaskan wind rustle against my cheeks, watching over this vast yet tender land that epitomized so much of America’s resplendent pulchritude, and slowly squeezing the trigger on the wolf cub I’d been tracking through my crosshairs, I suddenly felt in my heart something I had always known to be true: the capital-gains tax must be eliminated.”

You know she was down here in Arkansas. People actually waited in line all night waiting for her tour bus to pull up to Sam’s Club!!! Pretty Ghetto! Chad’s co-worker actually sat in line from 1am until 11 waiting to get his booked signed. I never heard of any book tour at Sam’s Club. There were only two protesters. A couple of old ladies that think she is full of shit. I wish I could have been there. Your niece wanted to go protest her for the Wolf Hunting in Alaska, but I think she should be at least 10 before she starts protesting.
