Big Game Preview: Packers at Cardinals
The Packers have been rolling. The Cardinals have not. We play each other in less than hour.
I have yet to find an ‘expert’ that is picking Arizona to win. I’ll tell you the three keys to the game that will make them all right:
1. Pressure Kurt Warner — I don’t know how you want to quantify this in the box score in the end of the game, but a combo of pressures, hits, sacks, and fumbles will do. He’s old, doesn’t move out of the pocket, is afraid of getting his brain rattled, and has been known to drop the football if you hit him on the arm. If we can get him off his spot and disrupt his timing, we are golden. And if we are fortunate enough to knock him out of the game, then our defense gets to feast on the left arm of Matt Leinhart.
2. Ride Jermichael Finley to Victory – Our studly 6′5″ Tight End is the biggest mismatch in the game today. He can dominate the Arizona linebackers and safeties. If we can get him involved early and often, then we can extend drives and score TDs in the redzone.
3. Packers Special Teams can’t suck too much — We have the worst Special Teams in the NFL. A terrible punter. A terrible place kicker. Terrible coverage. And a terrible return game. As long as it’s not a close game, we should be fine, but if it’s a close game, I’d be very wary of putting our success in their hands.
Packers win 37-27.
And here’s my attempt to predict the box score of some of the key players in the game:
Green Bay Packers:
- Aaron Rodgers: 24-36, 291 yds, 3TDs, 0 INTs
Greg Jennings: 4 catches, 84yds
Donald Driver: 8 catches, 107 yds, 1 TD
Jermichael Finley: 9 catches, 76yds, 1 TD
Ryan Grant: 16 carries, 90 yds, 1 TD
Arizona Cardinals:
- Kurt Warner: 22-42, 235yds, 2TDs, 2 INTs
Larry Fitzgerald: 8 catches, 74yds, 1 TD
Steve Breaston: 5 catches, 85yds
Beanie Wells: 12 rushes, 40yds
Tim Hightower: 14 rushes, 47yds, 1TD
