Now comes word that he loves Five Guys burgers:

“I grew up on In-N-Out,” said Mickelson, who admitted he had gone to Five Guys for six days in a row. “I thought that was the best burger until I had Five Guys. That is hands down the best burger I’ve ever had.”

That’s probably a true statement. I got introduced to Five Guys in DC/Baltimore. They are, by far, the best burgers I’ve ever had. So Lefty and I agree on something. But I try to limit myself to just one burger a month — not six days in a row like Mickelson.

I was very excited to discover that there was a Five Guys about a half mile from my new place in Minneapolis. I’ve made it a mission to get naive little Minnesotans hooked on it. So far I’ve taken Hitt and Skor. They are now big fans.

But it turns out that Lefty was perhaps a little bias in his recommendation:

It depends on how much Mickelson will attach his name to the Five Guys franchises, but if he fully endorses the product, it could be a huge boost as Five Guys moves into In-N-Out territory

He probably should have disclosed that, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m more worried about Lefty’s diet. The dude needs to lay off all these unhealthy restaurants, especially buying them. If he’s got all this terrible, free food, he revert back to old Phil and ruin our eyes walking 18 holes in those tight shirts on an HDTV Sunday afternoon round.

And I’m proud to say that a couple of regular Great Wahl celebrities ran really well. They aren’t Ethiopian or Kenyan, so they didn’t win. But Tony and Julia definitely held their own:

As a frame of reference, Cheruiyot is the overall male winner and Erkesso is the overall female winner. Tony was beating Julia up until about the 30K mark, but then faded down the home stretch and Julia ended up beating him (3:04:51 [7:03 mile pace] to 3:11:55 [a slow ass 7:20 mile pace]). But that’s probably because he was having a little too much fun at his bachelor party last month in New Orleans, and his training suffered. Or Julia is just amazing. Or both. I’m sure Uncle Trey is happy.

I’ve been told that Tony and Julia intend on running a marathon in every state in the union. I promise that if they run in my neck of the woods, I’ll take better pictures than Wernick did yesterday:

But in all seriousness, running a marathon of any kind, especially a big one like the Boston, is quite an accomplishment. Congrats.

But I warned as much. The only position I got relatively close was Tiger’s. I said he’d get fifth. He finished tied for fourth.

My guesstimation of Mickelson’s 40th place finish was not exactly correct either. He went out and won it, no doubt about it — even with the flukiest misfortune I’ve ever seen on a putt. His shot on 13 out of the pine straw between the trees was truly epic, the defining moment of his win that we will undoubtedly see on Masters highlight reels for the rest of eternity.

So I have to give credit where credit is due. My first Masters post argued that Mickelson needed to enter sex rehab. As it turns out, he did it for the boob after all:

But the net-90 mark [...]]]> So it was exactly 90 days ago I crossed the 80-pound threshold in My Fitness Project, but I finally hit the 90-pound mark.

But the net-90 mark really doesn’t paint the whole picture, because I’ve gained a lot of muscle mass during the last 9 months too, since I started lifting regularly again. It’s hard to tell how much muscle I’ve added vs. fat lost, but here’s a quick glimpse of some of the weight lifting changes I track:

I got over the proverbial weight loss hump, though, by starting P90X at home and abandoning my heavy weight lifting routine at the gym. In the 11 days since I’ve started P90X, I’ve lost 4.2lbs and over 2 inches off my waist.

It’s fairly hardcore, to say this least. But I’ve been modifying the routine a bit. Instead of doing the 100 minute yoga DVD they say to do once a week, I’ve been replacing it with an hour of cardio at the gym instead. Mostly because I don’t want to/have no interest to/can’t bend myself into a pretzel. I went to the gym last night and noticed a significant difference in how much easier the cardio was to complete compared to before P90X, even though I did cardio nearly every day prior anyways. It felt a lot easier, and my heart rate was significantly lower throughout the routine.

But I still have just 13 days until the one-year anniversary of said Fitness Project (March 21st), so I have to make quick work of these next ten pounds in order to successfully complete my One Hundred in One challenge. But I think I’m on track now. I feel like I should win a car or something. Maybe an appearance on Oprah? A spread in Men’s Health? I’ll have to work on that.

On to triple digits.
