A Personal Request

BJones, The Great Wahl’s College Football Senior Writer, asked me to put together a quick commentary about last night’s Pro Bowl experiment…so here we go.
For the unfamiliar, the Pro Bowl is usually played in Hawaii the week after the Super Bowl. This year, it was played in Miami, the site of this year’s Super Bowl, [...]

Spread ‘Em – Week 18: Wildcard Edition

I’ve been traveling the past few weeks, so I haven’t had the opportunity to put together my weekly NFL picks column. However, I can’t resist any longer now that the playoffs are upon us. Only 11 NFL games remain in the 2009 season. Let’s see if I can pull a winning record against the spread [...]

Knee-Jerk Analysis: Packers-Bears

As I mentioned last week, I was uninspired by this week’s game between the Packers and Bears. Which is weird, because I usually get up for Divisional games. I just didn’t think it would be much of a competition.
It wasn’t, through the first 20 minutes. The Packers were marching at will against their defense. And [...]

Big Game Preview: Packers at Bears

I’m feeling uninspired with football this week. Maybe it was that emotional win over the Ravens that has me drained. Or maybe it’s the fact that I’m looking past this weekend’s game against the Bears. Either way, I haven’t felt particularly interested in writing my weekly ‘Spread ‘Em’ column yet. So, instead, I’ll just throw [...]

(Not Quite) Knee-Jerk Analysis: Packers-Ravens

So, the Packer-Ravens game happened a few days and I have yet to really comment on it. My bad. I’m still recovering from watching the second highest penalized game in history of the NFL (23 penalties for 310 yards) in person (and the big snow storm we had today — pictures to come).

You probably remember [...]

Big Game Preview: Packers-Ravens

I’m fortunate enough to get to go to tonight’s Packers-Ravens game because one of my dad’s colleagues got his knee scoped on Friday and can’t go. I’ve got a lot of stuff to do in preparation for the most impactful NFL game of the week (in terms of playoff scenarios for both conferences), so I’ll [...]

Old Man Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers turns 26 today. That means we’ve got him for at least another 12 years before we dump him and let him go try to win a Super Bowl for the Vikings. Let’s enjoy it while we can.
Happy Birthday, son. Get ‘er done against Baltimore on Monday Night.

Happy!

Packers win 34-12.
7-4 and still right in the thick of the playoff hunt. Already more wins than we had all of last year.
Our defense is good.
A Happy Thanksgiving indeed!
Aaron Rodgers for MVP.
Detroit is terrible. Stafford gave us 4 nice INTs. So generous this holiday season.
Time to eat some turkey.

Knee-Jerk Analysis: Packers-49ers

30-24. Pretty for the first half (except a little heavy on the FGs), ugly for the second. Enough for the victory, though. Will always take the ‘W’.
This morning, I posted a preview of today’s Packers-49ers (that you can read here). I argued that the five key points to the game today were:
1. The Packers’ pass [...]

Sunday Soothsayer: Packers-49ers

Another week, another big game for the Green Bay Packers. The 49ers, coming off of long week of preparation (they played the Bears last Thursday night) come in as 6.5 points dogs. People quickly forget that San Francisco challenged Indy in Indy two weeks ago…and the Packers lost to the Buccaneers! This line is solely [...]
